The Client Development specialist for KZF Design’s private markets is an outgoing door opener, a charismatic and collaborative strategic thinker with business acumen and an entrepreneurial inclination.

The Client Development specialist is intelligent with a keen sense of inquiry and an ability to inspire the same in others by being an excellent communicator, including being an active listener with critical thinking response skills. He or she possesses a positive, outgoing personality, confidence and a strong sense of situational awareness during interpersonal communications.

The Client Development specialist should have knowledge of the regional private development sector and the challenges and opportunities presented by working within this network. They should have the initiative and ability to inspire confidence in clients by being a credible and knowledgeable professional. He or she must display strong organizational skills as well as clear and concise communication skills. They are a ‘concierge,’ a facilitator, a person who acts with urgency, meets deadlines and delivers on promises.

This person is a connected networker who knows how to hunt for good clients and good projects. He or she can foster a sense of camaraderie and high morale with integrity and capability. The Client Development specialist is a proactive and motivated person, who brings solutions to every situation, and is willing and able to take the lead when asked and achieve positive results and outcomes.

The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, client-centered and open-minded and has experience either as a technical or service marketing professional, in either the local A/E, construction, real estate or development industries.

The responsibilities of the Client Development specialist include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • “Make and Keep the Promise” to clients and staff
  • Assist in setting and achieving market strategies, processes and objectives
  • Assist in identifying, qualifying and pursuing clients and project opportunities
  • Maintain and improve firm profitability through meeting/exceeding sales goals
  • Increase market share in commercial/industrial and workplace markets
  • Build a network of professional relationships within the private development community to support business development activities
  • Develop new relationships/expand client base while finding new opportunities and qualified leads – be an “opportunity miner”
  • Listen to and understand client needs to maximize opportunities – then relate appropriate information/needs back to Market Leaders and participate in developing specific pursuit strategies
  • Participate in the proposal and interview process
  • Orchestrate team and firms’ participation in industry networking organizations
  • Drive and coordinate preparation of SOQ’s and RFQ/RFP responses
  • Oversee and be a champion for the commercial/industrial and workplace marketing and business development tools, processes and strategies
  • Reinforce KZF’s brand identity externally through a strong professional network
  • Coordinate with the Marketing & Business Development Manager and support firm-wide marketing efforts, strategies and initiatives

Do you meet these specifications?

Required

  • Proven track record of Business Development experience
  • Proven track record developing new sales leads and opportunities
  • Proven track record of successfully closing leads and opportunities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentations
  • Support of client and networking efforts through office/after-hours event attendance, leading to demonstrated new client acquisition/project opportunities
  • Comfortable with 50% out-of-office

Preferred

  • Proven track record of Business Development experience in the professional services (architecture/engineering) industry
  • Demonstrated leadership and involvement in professional and/or civic organizations
  • Demonstrated experience in strategizing, developing, and presenting formal presentations to prospective clients
  • Comfortable leveraging technology in all aspects of business
  • 5+ years of full time Business Development experience in the Cincinnati region
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, Adobe Creative suite
  • Experience with CRM, Salesforce or other compatible system
  • Works well in teams and independently
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
  • Understanding of the commercial development process including real estate, design and construction

Desired

  • Technical (architectural or engineering) background
  • Experienced in speaking and writing, and making group presentations
  • Understanding of the A/E/C industry
  • Demonstrated experience with business to business prospecting activities
