We are looking for a mechanical engineer.

The Mechanical Engineer is a creative self-starter willing to willing to assist, and at times, take the lead on Mechanical Engineering design and production for assigned projects.

The Mechanical Engineer supports all areas of Mechanical Engineering design from concept development through final construction documents.

The Mechanical Engineer works with all team members to development and implement Mechanical designs that meet the constraints of time, budget, schedule and client expectations. This person is a good listener, an experienced communicator, a trusted collaborator and a “caretaker of the vision” of KZF Design. This person is an outgoing and personable problem solver, and is experienced and comfortable working on a broad range of project types.

The ideal candidate is able to take directions and give directions to junior staff, and can see the big picture without becoming labored or entrenched in the minute details of a solution. KZF believes in the “Promise of Design” and delivering on its promises. As a diverse group of multidisciplinary professionals working together to create competitive solutions for our clients, the Mechanical Engineer is an integral participant and a critical leader in that effort.

The responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Keeping KZF’s promise of design and client satisfaction
  • Supporting design and production on Mechanical Engineering projects
  • Working on a broad range of project types
  • Demonstrating experience with both public and private projects
  • Working within a full range of budgets
  • Working closely with all company disciplines
  • Reinforcing KZF’s brand in the marketplace
  • Serving the external client by serving the internal client
  • Working with engineers, designers and technical personnel
  • Participating in internal and external design charrettes and presentations
  • Working within established budget constraints
  • Meeting project schedules and deadlines

Do you meet these specifications?


  • Minimum 5-years of experience in the E or A/E building consultant industry
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, ABET accredited
  • Experienced producing construction documents for Mechanical Engineering projects
  • Technically proficient in most areas of in Mechanical Engineering for Buildings
  • Proactive and assertive in problem solving
  • Experience working individually and in teams
  • Experience working on multiple projects at the same time
  • General knowledge of current Mechanical Codes and related technical criteria
  • Experience in speaking and writing
  • Good client skills


  • PE License
  • REVIT and/or REVIT MEP proficient
  • Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel proficient
  • Demonstrated progressive career development
  • Engineering experience on a wide variety of building types for a diverse range of clients in both the Private and Public marketplaces
  • Comfortable making group presentations
  • Willing to travel


  • AutoCAD proficient
  • MicroStation / MicroStation 3D proficient
  • Experience doing Mechanical material take-offs and Mechanical cost estimating
