We are looking for a senior architect.

Areas of Responsibilities include the following:

  • Architectural Design
  • Construction Administration

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

  • Work directly with Project Managers and assume the “day-to-day” responsibility of architectural design/production for assigned projects or activities
  • Seek advice and counsel from Director of Architectural Services as needed
  • Lead the interface with all professional disciplines assigned to the project to ensure work is properly coordinated
  • Work with the Design Director and/or Project Manager to establish design parameters consistent with the project scope
  • Prepare building architectural design studies as required
  • Prepare design documents and directs other Architectural staff as required for all phases of design (concept, schematic, design development, construction documents)
  • Direct, coordinate, and work with other professional staff as required in the preparation of design for assigned projects
  • Research and prepares building code analysis as required
  • Conduct field investigations as required to understand project requirements
  • Research building materials and systems as required to select appropriate items for incorporation into the building design
  • Maintain a general knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and structural building systems; responds to and coordinates these systems with the architectural design
  • Attend project team meetings as required
  • Prepare documents in conformance with KZF standards and quality control requirements
  • Prepare outline and complete construction document specifications
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of architectural design standards (master specifications, drawing standard procedures, CAD standards, project documentation standards) as assigned by the Director
  • Responsible for technical accuracy, constructability, code conformance, and appropriate level of detail for project designs
  • Seal all documents for which you are in responsible charge
  • Review shop drawing and construction submittals as required
  • Participate in construction site observation visits as required
  • Prepare Construction Request For Information (RFI) responses
  • Assist in resolution of design/construction related issues; work with the Construction Administration Department to ensure construction issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Work within established project scope, budgets and schedules
  • Respond to estimated budget hour requests
  • Achieve or exceed your utilization goal

CLIENT DEVELOPMENT

  • Assist project teams in keeping KZF’s promises to clients
  • Provide marketing support as required, including proposal input and participation in client interviews
  • Participate in public relations activities as requested
  • Participate in the marketing of KZF’s services to existing and new clients
  • Proactively look for and share possible project opportunities for KZF
  • Look for opportunities to add to and upsell KZF services to our clients

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Proactive in individual professional development
  • Active in professional societies
  • Actively pursues continuing education under the direction of the Director of Architectural services

Do you meet these specifications?
  • Bachelor of Architecture Degree from an NAAB accredited college
  • Registered Architect
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the A or A/E design consulting industry
  • Experience supervising architects, designers, and technical personnel
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to other architectural staff
  • Broad understanding and experience with design and office related computer software and operating systems
  • Proficient in AutoCAD – REVIT experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Comfortable with a broad range of project types
  • Familiarity and experience working with building codes
  • Capable and competent in all areas of building design
  • Proactive and assertive in problem solving
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Staff management and client relationship skills
  • Comfortable working in teams and making group presentations
  • Familiarity with A/E industry BIM standards a plus
  • Proficiency in Microstation, or Microstation 3D a plus
  • NCARB certified with the ability to be licensed in any state preferred
