The Director of Workplace Design Studio is a creative problem solver who understands how to balance the design process with the realities of a client’s needs and the financial goals of KZF Design.

The ideal candidate is personable, charismatic and outgoing, is an ambitious self-starter and is experienced and comfortable working on a wide range of project types and management responsibilities. They can identify and strategically plan for the big picture without becoming labored or entrenched in the minute details of a solution, rather leveraging their staff to achieve strategic goals through delegating and leverage skill sets through mentoring, coaching and training staff.

The Director of Workplace Design Studio is current on all market design trends and is keenly aware of the Cincinnati regional market and has credibility within. This person is approachable with a professional appearance and attitude which is adaptable to each audience they encounter. They must be capable of establishing and building new relationships with external clients as well as maintaining existing relationships based in trust, honestly and mutual respect.

The responsibilities of the Director of Workplace Design Studio include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Keep KZF’s promise of good design and client satisfaction
  • Assume the “day-to-day” responsibility for Workplace Design Studio sales, business development, and client relationship management activities
  • Develop, implement, monitor and achieve annual business unit revenue and net profit goals, monitoring variances from planned results and instituting corrective action as necessary
  • Identify, qualify and pursue existing and potential submarkets, clients and project opportunities
  • Build a network of professional relationships within the Workplace Design market to support business development activities
  • Identifying short, medium and long-term market trends, including the economic impact on the Workplace Design business unit, while serving as a “champion” for Workplace Design Thought Leadership and education
  • Increase sales, market share, network and client base
  • Create and lead formal and informal presentations for internal and external audiences
  • Prepare, review and approve fee proposals and contracts, including negotiations
  • Review and approve project schedules, budgets and scope created by Project Managers
  • Ensure projects are within budgets, completed on schedule and meet or exceed professional standards of work
  • Support Project Managers with client-related issues including invoicing and collections
  • Lead and manage projects
  • Foster and facilitate internal relationships with discipline teams
  • Lead initiatives related to Workplace Design staff development and mentoring
  • Assist in the identification and hiring of team members

Do you meet these specifications?

Required

  • Registered Architect (NCARB) or accredited Interior Designer (NCIDQ)
  • Minimum 15-years of experience in the A/E Commercial Interior Design / Workplace Design industry
  • BA in Architecture or Interior Design from an Accredited Program or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience successfully executing business development strategies and securing new clients/projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategizing, developing and presenting formal presentations to prospective clients
  • Demonstrated experience in Workplace Design Strategies and Corporate Interior Design implementation
  • Knowledge of current Workplace Design and Corporate Interiors trends
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor key metrics, milestones and proactively make adjustments as necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop and prepare project proposals including defining scope, budget and schedule with a strong technical writing background
  • Support of client and networking efforts throughout office and after-hours event attendance, leading to demonstrated new client acquisition/project opportunities
  • Proficient with MS Office suite
