
We are looking for a Senior Architect is capable and experienced in all areas of Architecture with an emphasis on buildings and building site design.
Position requires experience producing architectural design and construction documents in an A/E consulting firm, understanding and experience with design and office-related computer software and operating systems including REVIT, BIM, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, with experience working with structural engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, interior designers, and other technical personnel. The Senior Architect must be experienced in designing buildings to meet LEED criteria, mentoring and supervising architects, designers, and technical personnel, comfortable with a broad range of project types, and have a familiarity and experience working with building codes. They are capable and competent in all areas of building design, proactive and assertive in problem solving, and have experience working with Federal Government Agencies such as the Department of Defense, the Department of Justice and the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The responsibilities of the Senior Architect include:
- Help our clients achieve their goals
- Work with the Director of Architecture and Project Managers to meet KZF goals and objectives
- Respond to estimated budget hour requests from Division Managers and Project Managers
- Assist project managers with development of project schedules and budgets
- Provide technical, project management and client management support to projects
- Work directly with the Director and KZF project managers and assume the “day-to-day” responsibility of Architectural design/production for assigned projects
- Work with Project Managers to establish design parameters consistent with the project scope, schedule and budget
- Prepare Architectural design and construction documents in REVIT, per applicable standards
- Coordinate with project managers regarding schedule and construction costs for each project scope of work
- Seek advice and counsel from Director of Architectural Services as needed
- Lead the interface with all professional disciplines assigned to the project to coordinate the work
- Prepare Architectural design studies, written design narratives, calculations, and analysis, and direct Architectural staff as required
- Research building materials and systems and select appropriate items for incorporation into the building design
- Maintain a general knowledge of mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, fire protection and telecom building systems; coordinate these systems with the architectural design
- Perform conceptual planning and design and confirm the requirements of assigned projects are consistent with the project scope, schedule and budget
- Prepare design documents as required for all phases of design (concept, schematic, design development, construction documents)
- Prepare documents in conformance with KZF standards and quality control requirements
- Prepare outline and final construction document specifications, and coordinate the work with other project specifications
- Assist with and review construction cost estimates
- Remain current with new products and tools that will assist you in better meeting our client’s needs
- Conduct field investigations as required to understand project requirements
- Assist with quality assurance reviews
- Research and prepare building code analysis
- Maintain technical accuracy, constructability, code conformance, and appropriate level of detail for project designs
- Assist in mentoring and technical development of Architectural staff
- Participate in value engineering
- Attend and participate in project team meetings
- Maintain a technical expertise in your profession and area of work
- Assist in the development and maintenance of architectural design standards including master specifications, Architectural standards, drawing standard procedures, CADD standards and project documentation standards, as assigned by the Director
- Provide REVIT support to the Construction Administration Department and other team members on projects
- Seal all documents for which you are in responsible charge
- Assist with construction administration, provide bidding assistance, review shop drawings, prepare construction submittals, participate in construction site observation, prepare Request For Information (RFI) responses and work with the Construction Administration Department and other team members to resolve construction issues in a timely manner
This is a full-time position with an expectation of being in the downtown Cincinnati office multiple days a week, subject to change according to company policy. KZF offers flexibility in setting hours to balance work and personal life.

Do you meet these specifications?
Required
- Bachelor of Architecture Degree from an NAAB accredited US college (master’s degree a plus)
- Professional registration as an Architect in the US
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of architecture working in an engineering or architecture/engineering design consulting firm with an emphasis on providing architectural design services for buildings
Preferred
- NCARB record – ability to be registered in every state
