KZF Design Expands Firm Ownership

KZF Design announces addition of 11 new owners from the company’s existing core management team.

(CINCINNATI, OH, Nov. 29, 2017) — KZF Design President & CEO Robert Steele announced today that the 65-person architecture, engineering, interiors and planning firm has added 11 new owners, all of whom are from the company’s existing core management team. Adding the new shareholders is the first step in a multiyear leadership and shareholder transition strategy that targets a full transition to the firm’s fourth generation of ownership by the year 2020.

Steele said, “KZF Design has been helping clients design a better future since 1956, having created landmark buildings and infrastructure throughout our community and region, as well as across the country. We are proud of the fact that our next generation of designers and leaders will keep the firm’s ownership in Cincinnati and in the control of those who manage the company. We commend each of them for their deep commitment to the company’s continued success.”

The 11 new owners were nominated and approved by KZF’s existing nine shareholders. On average, each new shareholder has 10 years of tenure at KZF Design. The new owners include:

  • Eric Anderson, Manager of Marketing & Business Development
  • Mark Bukala, Structural Engineer
  • Scott Csendes, Senior Vice President
  • Christina Fye, BIM Manager and Senior Mechanical Engineer
  • Stephen Gastright, Project Manager
  • Greg Hutzel, Project Manager
  • Robert Schmitz, Director of Architecture
  • Randy Schultz, Director of Commercial & Industrial Group
  • Ted Verst, Director of Structural Engineering
  • Nick Wilkerson, Project Manager
  • Josh Williams, IT Administrator

As part of KZF’s next generation, the new owners will join three existing owners: Director of Interior Design Michael Kelley, Senior Vice President Doug Marsh and Director of Electrical Engineering Ed Stegman.

KZF Design’s announcement comes at a time when the organization is looking beyond its storied history to set the stage for the next 20 years. This fall, the firm launched a brand refresh and a new marketing campaign to heighten awareness of its design services locally and regionally.

KZF Design is consistently ranked among the top 10 largest architectural and engineering firms in the city. The team’s integrated, multidisciplinary approach gives clients a single point of contact on projects specifically intended to bring a company, institution or city’s culture to life through designs that transform organizations and communities for the future.
