Bloom Township, located in a suburban area southeast of Columbus, serves over 10,000 residents in a 45-square-mile area. The Township sought to add a new fire substation, to establish a central location for emergency response services and bring faster response times to the less-populated areas of the Township. KZF Design provided full-design architecture and engineering services for the new fire substation. The free-standing station is approximately 6,600 SF, with three apparatus bays, office space, living quarters for four fire and EMS personnel, and operations support spaces. Support spaces include turnout gear storage, decontamination area, shop, and radio/report room. The station is being designed with future expansion in mind, and additional apparatus bays can be added as needed.

The Bloom Township Fire Station won the 2016 Buckeye Building Award, Institutional Division, and the 2016 National Frame Building Association, Expert Division, Institutional Building of the Year.
