As project architect for the University of Cincinnati’s Campus Recreation Center, KZF Design brought to life the incredible vision of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne of Morphosis. The sweeping architecture weaves three buildings as one — 353,000 SF intertwine activity, academics and modern living. The central, barrel-roofed area houses the recreation center, which features a 50-meter Olympic pool, and leisure and current-training pools. A 1/8 mile, four-lane suspended track overlooks the six-court gymnasium. The building also houses 224 dormitory suites, six classrooms, offices and study lounges and The Stadium View Cafe overlooking Nippert Stadium. Located at the heart of campus, the LEED® Certified Campus Recreation Center completes UC’s transformation from a commuter college to an urban university rich in all facets of student life.
