KZF Design is working with the Center for Respite Care in the adaptive reuse and transformation of the Uptown Arts building into their new home for healing respite care to adults experiencing homelessness. KZF is providing project management, architecture, engineering, and interior design for the new facility which will include 20 beds for homeless individuals recovering from illness, injury, or hospitalization.
The intent is to create space for 20 residents in a combination of private and semi-private (2-person) bedrooms with dining, activity, and medical exam spaces. The building would also include executive offices and boardroom.
The project required the due diligence of the existing building and the development of an extensive report outlining the condition of the building, all of its systems and the feasibility of using it for a different purpose.
