KZF Design provided architecture, MEP, structural engineering, and interior design for a new 20,500 SF headquarters fire station for the City of Florence, KY. The new station is located near the City’s Government Center, strengthening the Public Safety services in this area.
Station design includes elements of clean lines, simple massing, single-sloped roofs, and materials that support a contemporary and timeless aesthetic.
The new state-of-the art facility contains clearly defined private vs public spaces that include three apparatus bays, fitness room, day room/ kitchen/dining area with outdoor patio, gear room, decontamination areas, admin offices, and training/community room.
The design also implements the latest in occupant health and wellness features including extensive decontamination areas, staged in a “hot-warm-cold” configuration aimed at minimizing the introduction of carcinogens into the staff living quarters and administrative areas.
