KZF Design provided civil engineering services to realign a complicated intersection in the City of Hamilton. The proposed improvement includes realigning the Eaton and Millville Avenue approaches to the intersection so they align across from each other. This will significantly improve traffic operations and safety at the intersection.
The purpose of this project is to simplify traffic patterns and reduce congestion and crashes. It is not specifically designed to increase capacity, but improved operations are expected due to increased efficiency of the upgraded intersection. Combining what amounts to two intersections into a singular space will greatly improve signal efficiency, reduce conflict points, the number of required stops and travel time through the intersection.
