KZF Design performed civil and bridge engineering for a key connecting link in the developing Ohio River Trail, extending the existing Lunken Airport trail east across the Little Miami Scenic River to Salem Road. The project modified the traffic lanes on Kellogg Avenue bridge to accommodate a 10’ wide trail, eliminating the need for a costly new structure while minimizing impacts to the sensitive river environment. The trail also converted the existing highway ramp from Salem Road to Kellogg Avenue to further control costs and avoid impacts to the Magrish Wetland Preserve. The shared-use trail provides a key trail link for area bikers, joggers and in-line skaters, and will serve as the southern intersection with the Little Miami Bike Trail.
