KZF provided architecture and engineering services for a combined fire/police complex as part of a design/build team. The complex includes an addition to the existing, historic building occupied by the Rock Island Arsenal Fire and Police Departments and a new 20,000 SF addition. The renovation and addition included apparatus bay for emergency response vehicles, a central dispatch center, kitchen, sleeping quarters, restrooms/showers, locker rooms, exercise room, equipment storage; 911 emergency operations center, administration space, conference/training rooms and break rooms.

The renovation and addition were compliant with the installation’s designation as a National Historic Landmark, and KZF coordinated with the Illinois State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) throughout the design process.
